Textbook brain teaser
If evaporation produces cooling, why does boiling water not feel cold?
تبخیر ٹھنڈک پیدا کرتی ہے تو ابلتا پانی ٹھنڈا کیوں محسوس نہیں ہوتا؟
Solution & explanation
Evaporation removes energy from the remaining liquid. During sustained boiling a heater continually supplies energy; at fixed pressure the liquid stays near its boiling temperature while that energy supplies latent heat. Cooling is an energy-removal effect, not a claim that any evaporating liquid has a low temperature. Never test boiling water by touch.
