Question based on a textbook side note
Why does changing proton number change the element?
پروٹونوں کی تعداد بدلنے سے عنصر کیوں بدلتا ہے؟
Solution & explanation
Atomic number Z defines elemental identity. For example Z = 7 identifies nitrogen regardless of neutron number. Changing neutrons changes isotope; changing electrons makes an ion but does not by itself change the element.
