For an ohmic component at constant temperature V = IR, giving a straight V–I line through the origin. At fixed V, a larger R gives smaller I. Rearrange as I = V/R or R = V/I and keep units volts, amperes and ohms. Heating or a non-ohmic component can change the relationship.
