If a copper wire is replaced by aluminium of the same dimensions in the same circuit, how do current and power consumption change? Explain using resistivity.

Solution & explanation

Aluminium has higher resistivity, so R = ρL/A increases. In a wire-only load at fixed V, I = V/R and P = V²/R decrease. With other loads in series, the exact distribution changes; do not apply that power conclusion to every component without analysing the circuit.
