Question based on a textbook side note
Why is sound called a mechanical wave?
آواز کو میکانی موج کیوں کہتے ہیں؟
Solution & explanation
Sound is a pressure or elastic disturbance carried by matter. Solids, liquids and gases can transmit it through particle interactions; a vacuum cannot. Sound in air is longitudinal, although solids can also support transverse elastic waves.
