A king seeks the right time to act, the right people to attend to and the most important task. Conflicting advice leads him to a hermit. While helping the tired hermit dig, he encounters and cares for a wounded man, who turns out to be his enemy. The care brings reconciliation. The hermit explains that the king has learned through experience: the important time is now, the important person is the one present, and the important action is doing good to that person.
